So great!

THANKSGIVING!!!

I have so much to be thankful for and I realize I don't stop to "count my blessings" enough. I liked what my friend wrote on her blog, she said that if she started writing a list of all the things she was thankful for, she would never run out of things to write. I was really humbled when I read that, because I really do take too many things for granted.

Well, I feel like the verses I read in The Book Of Mormon last night were meant just for me, and I don't ever think it is just a coincidence when I receive answers or insight from the scriptures. I know they are divine inspiration for me and my family at this time. I am very grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who knows me, my situation, and exactly what I need, even more than I do.

I was reading in Alma ch 34. Alma was preaching to the Zoramites, and then Amulek took a turn to testify to the people that this life is the time to prepare to meet God. The entire chapter is great and then I came to verse 38. At the end of the verse it says...

"that ye live in thanksgiving daily, for the many mercies and blessings which he doth bestow upon you."

How cool is that!! I just love that I read that the night before Thanksgiving Day.

It makes my heart happy when I actually do what I'm supposed to do, read my scriptures, say my prayers, have patience with my children so I can hear the still small voice of the spirit, etc. The list can go on and on what we SHOULD do to prepare to meet God. Why do I ever stop doing these things I know, and fall off the wagon??? Because I'm only human and not perfect YET. So I won't give up, or stay down for long. I'll get back on and try to stay on longer this time.

As for now, I will try my best to live in Thanksgiving daily and know that I do have so many blessings to be thankful for. I think I will go start my list of thankfulness right now....

On a side note......I am excited for Dec......that means Steve and I will begin to read one of our favorite books:
"A Christmas Carol"
by Charles Dickens

We love it, and love what Scrooge learns. It is a tradition that we hope to continue every year. We hope we can read it to our kids this year. It's a quick read and some copies even have pictures. So I encourage all of you to go buy it, check it out at the library, or borrow it from someone, because it will change your life. You can't just watch the movie....no no no!! As always, the book is better. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
