This is Katelyn wanting the camera that I am holding.....
she thinks all things electronic are her "game"
I can't remember how I bribed her to hold still and stop crying....
I probably let her see the camera for a minute. Can you see the tears glistening in her eyes.
What a stinker.
Just some more pics of her broken arm and once again crying for the camera
"Please look at the camera"
"Can I take a picture of your foot"
"ok now your arm"
Whew.... we are good now.
The story of Katelyn's broken arm: March 28, 2012
We had moved into our rental home 5 days earlier and everything was going great. The kids were loving the yard, I was loving the size of the house and more space for everyone to roam. We were taking our time unpacking, so boxes were still scattered around the house. Steve reminded me one day earlier that we didn't have insurance and wondered if we'd be ok until he started work. I said I thought we'd be fine and wasn't worried unless someone broke their arm or something!!! I totally jinxed myself!!
One morning the kids were all playing great when Katelyn started crying, more than just a "he took my toy cry." So I ran to find her on the stairs face down, head down. (Looking like she slid down the stairs head first on her tummy.) I held her and calmed her down which took a little longer than usual, and she was shaking a little too. I figured it had really scared her, no big deal. It was nap time so I immediately put her down.
She slept a good long 3 hr nap and woke up right as we were eating lunch. She was happy and I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. After lunch we all did our own thing. I was in the front room reading while the kids were playing. I suddenly noticed Katelyn was pushing her stroller with only one arm, while the other one was limp at her side. Right then I knew her arm was broken and had Steve examine it. Sure enough we needed to take her to the ER.
So we called the RS Pres in our ward to watch the other 3 kids while Steve and I took her to the ER. It was a very long 5 hr stay in the ER along with Sedation, crying baby, and tired parents. We came away with this lovely white cast and a huge medical bill. But thankfully they cut the bill in half since we didn't have insurance. How nice of them. A week later she got a purple wrap on the cast to hide the dirt. She had it on a total of 5 weeks. We were all ready for it to come off, it was starting to stink.
I will never say those awful words again about someone breaking a limb, or being fine without insurance. Yikes.
Poor girl. Kass joked once that he wanted a snowboard for Christmas so he could slide on this huge hill in town. A park. And he said he will probably break his arm. And did on day one.
ReplyDelete"AWWW, sweet baby KATELYN!!!" was ellie's response to these pictures. we are glad that she is doing better and that the stinky cast is gone :)
ReplyDeleteWhere did you move to?
ReplyDeleteKatelyn looks the same age Robert did when he broke his arm....just before he went to school for the first time! He was chasing lizards on top of a fence and fell off. Insurance? who has insurance when our kids do these things! Good luck and hugs to you all.
ReplyDeleteoh that is sooo sad...for Katelyn and for your budget! :)
