There is an amazing woman who is giving free parenting Love and Logic classes through our ward's Relief Society "special groups", and tonight I went to the first one.
I AM SOLD!!
I am so excited to become a better parent and hopefully feel in control again with my life and children. It's going to require a lot of me shutting up, and letting them have more freedom, but also letting them come up with the solutions and learning from their natural consequences. As a parent I don't have to punish and make my child's life miserable, just to say "I'm in charge" They won't learn that way.
This may sound so simple to you...but it was exactly what I needed right now. Along with the talk from General Conference in April "What manner of men and women ought ye to be?" by Lynn G. Robbins. Awe inspiring really!!
To all who didn't or couldn't attend tonights class, YOU MISSED OUT...come next week. I am excited to implement what I have learned and go back for more.

It's GREAT stuff. Shem taught the class for parents at snow college for part of his masters degree. I got to go too. We love "Love and logic" - check your local library for other CDs to listen to. they have tons of great talks. I need to take a refresher course my seven year old is way too smart. Good luck.
