I love being with just our own little family. There is something so fun about having my children around me, with my hubby and just doing our own thing. Experiencing life together one day at a time.
In April we went to Moab to camp and see Arches. I had never been there before, so I thought before we move I needed to see what it was all about. But of course I happened to leave our camera at our sisters house. I was so bugged because what's the point of a vacation if you don't have any pictures to remember it by. So my awesome husband was so thoughtful, and bought us a little disposable camera while at the nearest grocery store, while I was using the restroom. (which cost a small fortune being in a small town) I am grateful we were able to capture some of our memories even though they are very poor quality photos, at least we have them. Oh, another reason why it took me so long to post this, is because I have not gone to get film developed at the store for years. It was so foreign to me. I am not in the habit of stopping at the photo center in Wal Mart any more. But we are happy to have it done.
So we set off for Moab thinking it was going to be a beautiful weekend. Oh no, Mother Nature had a different idea in mind. It was extremely cold, and rained off and on throught out our stay. We heard that right before we got there, there was a huge storm. With lots of wind, rain and snow, so we were grateful we missed that little episode. I am also grateful we brought our warm winter coats, or we would've had to go home early. We found a camp site right next to my cousin and her family, so that was comforting, knowing someone close by.
We spent a lot of time in our tent. It was much warmer in there than outside.
Don't mind the breakfast with ketchup all over it. It looks gross, but oh was it good.
Food always tastes way better when camping :)

I love my three beautiful children. We had a lot of fun. I can now say that since 1 and1/2 months has passed. At the time I wasn't so sure. The kids favorite was playing in the tent jumping on the air mattresses.

I hope they always remember how much they love each other.

This was our campsite with all the glorious never ending sand
that is still stuck in every nook and cranny of our vehicle.
The kids had a blast digging and playing in the sand.
This was called Brides Canyon. (or something like that)
In the background there is a profile of Bride

Little buddy really loved eating the sand. There was one time we caught
him laying on his belly swimming through the dirt
with his mouth wide open. What a silly boy. We had some
interesting diapers after that. :)

The Arches were very beautiful and impressive.
This is Double Arch.

My handsome men posing by double arch

We climbed up to the double arch and took a quick family photo,
but because of the lame fake camera it had no zoom.
Hence the tiny people way up there.
(I just need to go and photoshop it but I haven't)

Me and my girls all bundled up. I can't tell you how cold it was!!
In the background it is called Parade of Elephants.
I think you have to have a really good imagination to see it.

Balanced Rock
Very cool!!

This one was called the Three Gossips.
I am glad it is over and we have the photos to prove we did it. I love to camp, but not with an 18mo old, not in the rain and wind, not without a bathroom close, and preferably 1 night. We were pretty disgusting by the time we came home. I don't know how the pioneers did it. They were amazing. I think the pain of that trip is fading, because we are already planning our next one to Bryce Canyon or Goblin Valley. I'll let you know how that one goes.
You make me laugh, but it was way fun to see you there :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun family you are! You are definately braver than I am! (Not sure if I know how to spell anymore. Some of the words don't look right)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad we got to see you! That was a very cold trip, but worth the memories! Hopefully we'll be able to do another trip before you move.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many great things to see near Moab. We only went to Arches when we lived in Price. We definately did not take advantage of the sights. Now we would have to drive many more hours. And I would like to see that stuff.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Sorry it had to rain and be so cold...seems like there's always some type of kink in camping...doesn't it? I can't believe how fast the kids are growing up! I love that picture of them together on that animal...so precious! We are excited to be coming "home", lets get together lots before you leave us.
ReplyDeleteThat looks so fun! Even with the rain/baby/cold! Way to get out there and do it! =)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great memory for your kids to have, and for you. We need to do that same trip. We take advantage of the beauty around us, don't we? I can't believe how big your kids are! Such sweeties!!
